James W. Crothers, age 92, died August 23, 2014 at his home in Savannah. Jim was formerly from Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; and Watertown, South Dakota.

Jim was born and raised in Watertown, South Dakota. After graduating from high school, he graduated from Curtis-Wright Technical Institute in Glendale, California and received a degree in aeronautical engineering, which he used to work on the B-29 bomber at Boeing Airplane Company in Seattle early in World War II. He later enlisted in the Army Signal Corps, Alaska Communication System and spent the remainder of the War in the Aleutian Islands and mainland Alaska. After the war, Mr. Crothers completed an advanced engineering degree at South Dakota State University and worked for several companies before ending his career with the Roper Corporation here in Savannah.

He is survived by his daughters, Lynne Williams of Douglasville, Georgia and Dr. Martha Crothers of Carbondale, Illinois. He was an avid golfer, being a member of LaVida Country Club for over 30 years.

Mr. Crothers will be cremated and join his beloved wife Joyce in the family plot in beautiful Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown, South Dakota.

Lynne and Marty Our sympathy to you both. Ralph are sorry to hear of your dad, passing.I remember you calling a few years ago when you and your dad were passing through Ft. I believe it was shortly after your Mom died. We are still living in Fort. Kay use to keep me posted on the news from your family, however since she died I've lost track of you. We are so sorry for your loss. Death is never a easy thine to get over. But be strong God has promised a resurrection for those who have fallen asleep in death and promises that we will see them Again how do we know ? Because the Bible says at John 5:28,29 it will give u comfort and hope.
